Prince Zeid Selected As New UN Human Rights Chief

The United Nations General Assembly elected on June 16 Prince Zeid bin Raad Al-Hussein of Jordan as the new High Commissioner for Human Rights. Nobel Peace Prize 2010

Today the Nobel Peace Prize Award ceremony took place in Oslo. This year Chinese human rights activist Liu Xiaobo was awarded for his long and non-violent fight for human rights in China. Queen Rania wins the European Council on Human Rights Award

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah has won the European Council on Human Rights award. The award will be awarded to Queen Rania in a ceremony which will be held in the premises of the Portuguese Parliament in Lisbon on March 16. Winning the award along with the Queen Rania was the former Portuguese President, Jorge Sampaio.
