Queen Margrethe Attends Service Celebrating 500 Years Since The Reformation

The Queen of Denmark was present on Sunday afternoon at the Haderslev Cathedral for a national service of worship marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Wearing a bubblegum pink suit, Queen Margrethe II joined Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and the President of the Folketinget, Pia Kjærsgaard, for the service.  The Reformation took place on October 31, 1517 with Martin Luther’s Ninety-five Theses.

The Dutch Royal Court has announced that King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will pay a state visit to Portugal later this year upon the invitation of the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The couple will visit between October 10 and 12, accompanied by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will be running an economic mission parallel to the state visit.

Queen Mathilde of the Belgians had two special guests with her for this evening’s performance of finalists in the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition: the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Sarvath Al Hassan of Jordan. The trio of royal ladies watched the cello performances of two finalists for this year’s prize, the first for cellists, Maciej Kulakowski and Seungmin Kang, who were both accompanied by the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra.
