Danish Princesses Dazzle During Prince Henrik’s 75th Birthday Celebrations

The royal birthday celebrations began with a luncheon aboard the royal yacht, Dannebrog. Even though the day was grey and the weather rainy, the two princesses dazzled Danish royal watchers who had gathered to see the guests board the yacht.

First to arrive was Princess Marie, who gave birth just slightly over one month ago. She looked slim and elegant in a soft grey jacket, which she paired with crisp white trousers. Pinned to the lovely grey jacket was a gorgeous brooch made of pearls and diamonds. She carried a gorgeous clutch in a shade of greyish purple with a crocodile skin texture.

Crown Princess Mary made her way to the yacht in a multi-colored dress, cut in a 1950s style. The retro shape was cinched with a wide brown belt, which accentuated the princess’s tiny waist. She wore a cardigan in a soft beige color over her dress, which helped to bring out the vibrant colors of her dress. To complete the look, Mary wore earrings in a modern hoop shape by Marianne Dulong, one of her favorite jewelry designers.

During the evening, a concert was given in honor of Prince Henrik in Copenhagen. Mary and Marie were polished and elegant as they entered the concert hall. Princess Marie wore a flowing cocktail dress in a pearl-colored soft chiffon fabric, which she paired with a chic bolero jacket of black lace with a small ruffled detail on the hem. She complimented the look with the brooch that she wore to the luncheon, diamond earrings, and black satin, open-toed heels. In her hand was a sparkling clutch.

Crown Princess Mary arrived at the concert in a dress that she first wore during a visit to Aarhus in 2004. It was a modern sheath-style dress in a deep fuchsia color that looked beautiful against her fair skin. It had an asymmetrical hemline and neckline, with a draping effect at the waist. The dress was so stunning that minimal accessories were needed. The crown princess wore her hair back in a chic knot, which showed off her delicate drop earrings. She also wore a delicate looking diamond bracelet, and carried a clutch embellished with crystals. The look was completed by her satin heels in a soft beige color. The dress is reported to be designed for the princess by Hugo Boss.

The following day was also filled with fashionable appearances by the princesses. During a military parade in honor of Prince Henrik’s birthday, the two women looked lovely dresses that were perfect for an outdoor event in June.

Princess Marie wore a timeless shift dress in shades of purple, black, beige, and turquoise by Pucci. She layered a black cardigan over the dress, and carried a classic black Chanel quilted lambskin purse. Her hair was pulled back into a fun hairstyle that added some height to the top of her head; the perfect compliment to her 1960s-style Pucci dress. The cheerful style was complimented by white heels with black details.

Crown Princess Mary wore a gauzy white sundress with black belt tied at her waist. The dress had a ruffled hem, and the fabric had a crinkled look throughout the dress. She wore a cardigan in a creamy pinkish-beige shade, and carried a clutch in a similar color. Her beige heels were in a pointed-toe style. Delicate drop earrings and a simple ponytail were the perfect compliments to her soft daytime outfit.

Arguably, the highlight of the birthday celebrations was the gala dinner that was given on the evening of June 11 in Copenhagen. Royal watchers eagerly awaited the arrival of the guests in their gala attire, and they weren’t disappointed.

Princess Marie arrived in a new gala dress. It was made of a heavy silk fabric in a lovely shade of pale pink. The dress had an overlay of chiffon in the same pink color, with beaded floral details in shades of pink, pearl, and gold. The dress was sleeveless, with an empire waist and a-line skirt with a slight train. The princess wore gold shoes, and the beautiful floral tiara that she wore on her wedding day.

Crown Princess Mary arrived in a gorgeous recycled dress in a grecian-style. The dress was a chiffon fabric in an elegant soft pink color. It had ruching at the waist, and asymmetrical straps. The fabric was draped in a criss-cross style on the bodice, and had a crinkled look on the front of the dress. The highlight of her gala ensemble was undoubtedly the new tiara that she wore. “Midnight” is the name given to the tiara by its designer, Charlotte Lynggard. It has a delicate leaf and berry motif, and is crafted from oxidized silver, 18-karat light pink gold, moonstones and pavé diamonds. The moonstones and diamonds illuminated the tiara, and the leaves were the perfect compliment to her grecian-style gown. The tiara was accompanied by a matching brooch that was fastened to one of the straps of her gown.
