The Duke of Edinburgh Resumes Royal Duties in Cambridge

HRH The Duke of Edinburgh went on his first royal engagements yesterday since injuring his back in a carriage-driving accident.

Prince Philip looked much recovered as he carried out various engagements throughout Cambridge. Over the course of his visit to the university town, The Duke christened a new rowing boat, unveiled a statue of Charles Darwin (who was celebrating his 200th birthday), and named a train.

The Duke of Edinburgh is chancellor of Cambridge University. He has continued to undertake a large slate of royal duties even in his advanced age, both alone and accompanying HM The Queen. Speculation about the state of his health had grown in the past weeks as he cancelled several planned public appearances with his wife.
