New King and Queen Kiss at First Balcony Appearance as Monarchs

After his proclamation as King today, King Frederik X of Denmark was joined on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace by his wife Queen Mary and their four children: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

To the excitement of the crowd the monarchs exchanged a kiss on the balcony. It was not the only kiss of the day. After the family arrived at their residence Amalienborg Palace they appeared on the balcony once more and exnchanged another kiss.

Later in the day the Danish royal family had a private dinner, where they were joined by among others Prince Joachim and Princess Benedikte. The day ended with fireworks at the famous Tivoli, which some members of the family were able to see from the roof of the palace.
