South Korea President Begins State Visit to Britain

Today, Tuesday November 21, the President of the Republic of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and the First Lady, Mrs Kim Keon Hee, started a three-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, on behalf of the King, greeted the Presidential Couple at their hotel and then they moved to Horse Guards Parade for the official welcoming ceremony.
At noon took place the official welcoming ceremony at Horse Guards Parade in the presence of King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The King and the President inspected a guard of honour and the national anthems were played. Following the welcoming ceremony the royal party traveled in carriages to Buckingham Palace where took place a private lunch.
Following the lunch, the Royal Couple, the Presidential Couple and the Prince and Princess of Walesviewed an exhibition of South Korean items from the Royal Collection. They were joined by the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
In the afternoon the President and the First Lday, accompanied by The Duke of Gloucester, attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial, a memorial that “honours the 81,000 individuals who served in the Korean War”.
Afterwards the President Yoon Suk Yeol and the First Lady paid a visit to Westminster Abbey, where they laid a wreath at the grave of the unknown soldier and toured the Abbey.
Then the Presidential Couple paid a visit to the Parliament where they were received by the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Speaker.
In the evening King Charles, accompanied by Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales, hosted a state banquet in honor of the President and the First Lday. At the banquet were also present, among the others, Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence, the Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
