Death of Princess Maria Christina of Bourbon-Two-Sicilies

Princess Casimir of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, née Princess Marie Christina Giusta Elena Giovanna of Savoy Aosta has died today in Brazil at the age of ninety.

Maria Cristina was born in Miramar Castle in Trieste, Italy. She was the second and youngest daughter of Amedeo, 3rd Duke of Aosta, the head of this junior branch of the Italian royal family, and his wife Princess Anne of France. Her elder sister Margherita, who died in 2022, was the wife of Archduke Robert of Austria and the mother-in-law of Princess Astrid of Belgium. 

Maria Cristina married Princess Casimir of Bourbon-Two Sicilies in 1967 in Jacarezinho, Brazil. He was the son of Prince Gabriel of the Two-Sicilies and his Polish wife Princess Cecylia Lubomirska. The couple had four children, Prince Luís Alfonso, Princess Anna Cecilia, Princess Elena Sofia and Prince Alexander, who were all born in São Paulo.

The princess will be buried in Sartirana, Italy.
