Belgian Royals Celebrate The King’s Feast
Today, Tuesday November 15, the Belgian Royal Family has celebrated The annual King’s Feast.
Since 1886, celebrations take place in honour of the Belgian Monarch.
King Albert, Queen Paola, Princess Astrid, and Prince Laurent attended a Te Deum service at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde didn’t attend the service as protocol decrees because it would be inappropriate for the Monarch to honour himself.
Following the Te Deum service the Royals moved to the Parliament where took place a ceremony to mark The King’s Feast. The ceremony was focused on the ten-year reign of King Philippe and the upcoming Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024.
During the visit at the Parliament the Royals officially opened the exhibition “I am also a King” which shows the works of art created by young people with disabilities.
November 15 is the name day of Leopold and Albert. In 1951 King Bauduin decided to honor November 15, as did his brother King Albert II.
