Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan Marries Rajwa Al Saif

Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan (28) married his fiancée Rajwa Al Saif (29) during a ceremony at the Zahran Palace in Amman yesterday. The bride is an architect and a scion of a prominent Saudi family.

The families and their guests gathered in an open-air gazebo decked with flowers and surrounded by landscaped gardens for a traditional Muslim wedding ceremony known as “katb al-ketab.” The guests erupted in applause after the signing of the marriage contract. By a royal decree Rawja Al Saif will henceforth be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein.

The bride arrived to the ceremony with Hussein’s younger siblings, Prince Hashem, Princess Salma and Princess Iman. The Princesses helped their sister-in-law with the train while Prince Hashem escorted her to the gazebo. Rawja was dressed in a white long-sleeve gown with an asymetric neckline and veil created by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. She wore a new tiara. For the dinner the princess changed into another white gown.

In the evening there was an official dinner at the Al Husseiniya Palace. The dress code was white tie, which included tiaras for the royal women. Apart from most members of the Jordanian royal family the wedding was attended by a large group of foreign royal and non-royal giusts. Among them were: The Sultan of Brunei and his son Prince Abdul Mateen, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, King Philippe of Belgium, the King and Queen of Malaysia, Queen Jetsun of Bhutan, the president and first lady of Rwanda, Sheikha Mozah of Qatar, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain,American first lady Jill Biden and former speaker Nancy Pelosi. The British delegation was made up by the Prince and Princess Wales, though Princess Beatrice of York and her husband were also invited.
