Emperor and Empress Enjoy Concert
On May 4th, Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and Princess Aiko attended a performance by the Vienna Boys’ Choir at Suntory Hall in Minato, Tokyo. They enjoyed about 90 minutes of music. Amonjg the songs were the “Ave Maria” of Charles Gounod and “My Neighbor Totoro.” the title song of the film from 1988. Due to COVID it was the first time in four years that the choir was able to perform in Japan.
The Imperial couple will not travel to London for the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. They will be represented by the Emperor’s brother and sister-in-law, Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko.
