Swedish Crown Princess Couple’s Official Visit to New Zealand: Day Two
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel started today, Friday February 17, the second day of the official visit to New Zealand with a traditional Maori welcoming ceremony held at the cultural building Wawhetu Maraeu in the capital Wellington.
Then the Royal Couple visited the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport, a training facility where the Swedish Women’s Football Team will stay during the umpcoming 2023 FIFA Women World Cup.
At lunchtime the Crown Princess and the Prince were received by Dame Cynthia Kiro, Governor General of New Zealand, at the Government House Wellington. Following a meeting, the Governor-General hosted a lunch in honor of the Crown Princess Couple and the Swedish delegation.
In the afternoon the Royal Couple paid a visit to Zealandia Ecosanctuary, a protected nature area which is “the world’s first fully-fenced urban ecosanctuary, with an extraordinary 500-year vision to restore a Wellington valley’s forest and freshwater ecosystems as closely as possible to their pre-human state”. Accompanied by the director of Zealandia Ecosanctuary, Danielle Shanahan, the Crown Princess Couple toured the park.
The second day in New Zealand ended with a dinner hosted by Tory Whanau, Wellington’s mayor.
