The Official Visit to the Dutch Caribbean Ends in Saba

Today, Thursday February 9, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and the Princess of Orange completed their two-week long official visit to the Caribbean part of the Netherlands by visiting Saba.
Upon the arrivat at the J.E. Yrausquin Airport the Royal Couple and the Princess were officially welcomed by the Governor Jonathan Johnson and then they visited the Solar Park, a park with solar panels that provides power to the entire island.
Later the King, the Queen and the Princess paid a visit to the Zion’s Hill village to know more about the island tradition of lacemaking. Then the Royal Couple and the Princess took a walk through the village of Windwardside and met with some residents.
In Saba the Royal Couple and the Princess also visited the Harry L. Johnson Museum and in the afternoon, following a lunch with the authorities of Saba, they visited the Expertise Education Center Saba (EC2 ). This center “works with and for pupils of 3-24 years old who experience issues with behavior, learning, communication, physical, and/or social-emotional development”. In 2021 this center won an Appeltje van Oranje from the Orange Fund.
Later the King, the Queen and the Princess moved to the harbor on the island where they met with scientists to talk about the project with Diadema sea urchins. The official visit ended in the capital, The Bottom, where the Royal Couple and the Princess, at the soccer stadium “Cruyff Court Saba” they played sports with children.
