Spanish Official Visit to Croatia Begins

Today, Wednesday November 16, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia started a two-day official visit to Croatia.
Arrived in early afternoon at the Airport of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, the Royal Couple was welcomed by members of the Croatian government.
Afterwards the King and the Queen were officially welcomed by the Croatian President, Zoran Milanović, and his wife, Sanja Musić, at the Presidential Palace. The King and the President inspected a guard of honor and the national anthems were played.
Then, inside the palace, the King had a meeting with the President while the Queen had a meeting with the First Lady.
Later the Royal Couple, accompanied by the Presidentia Couple, laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fatherland.
In the evening the Presidential Couple hosted a gala dinner at the Presidential Palace for the King and the Queen.
The King opened his speech by saying that “The Queen and I are very happy and proud to open, with this visit here in Zagreb, a new chapter in bilateral relations at the highest level between the Republic of Croatia and the Kingdom of Spain”, adding that ” it is also the first time in history since we established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, that an official visit by a Spanish Head of State, by some kings of Spain, to Croatia has taken place”. King Felipe also stated that the relations between the two countries ” have grown closer in recent times thanks to their common membership in the Atlantic Alliance, the Council of Europe and, for almost a decade, the EU”.
