King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima’s Second Day in Greece

Tuesday November 1st, Their Majesties King WIllem-Alexander and Queen Máxima started their second day in Greece by visiting the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center accompanied by Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic and her husband, Pavlos Kotsonis.
At the center they toured the exhibition entitled: “Resilience – stories of women inspiring change”. This exhibition organized by the Dutch non-profit organization “World Press Photo”, “highlight the resilience and challenges of women, girls and communities around the world”. Following the tour of the exhibition, the Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple attended a round table discussion focused on combating violence against women.
Then the King and the Queen, along with the Presidential Couple, were present at the 14th innovation and start-up entrepreneurship competition “The Squeeze”, a “celebration of innovation and start-up entrepreneurship” organized by “Orange Grove”, an initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Athens that aims to help young Greek entrepreneurs. 
Afterwards King WIllem-Alexander and Queen Maxima paid a visit to the Elpida Children’s Oncology Hospital. The hospital, the country’s first pediatric oncology hospital, cooperates with the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology in the field of pediatric oncology. The King and the Queen were welcomed by Marianna V. Vardinogianni, founder and President of the hospital, and then toured the hospital’s stem cell laboratory and met with ex-patients to be informed about their experience. 
In early afternoon the Royal Couple attended a concert held in a Athens’ school and performed by refugee children from a number of Greek refugee camps. Following the concert the King and the Queen met with refugee children and then the King visited a shelter where are currently living Ukrainian children that left Ukraine following the Russia invasion while the Queen visited a shelter for unaccompanied minor girls.
In the evening the King and the Queen hosted a reception at the
Megaron Mousikis concert hall in honor of Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic. They attended a dance performance by the Nederlands Danstheater, a Dutch dance company.
