Belgian King and Queen Visit the Province of Walloon Brabant

On Wednesday October 19, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Province of Walloon Brabant.
The first stop was in the municipality of Rixensart where the Royal Couple paid a visit to the headquarter of the global healthcare pharmaceutical company GSK. This company is “engaged in the research, development and manufacture of innovative pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines and consumer health products”. Upon the arrival at the headquarter of the company the King and the Queen were welcomed by Gilles Mahieu, the governor of Walloon Brabant, Patricia Lebon, mayor of Rixensart j and amila Louahed, Vice President of Vaccine Research and Development and Head of the GSK Rixensart site. Inside the building they met with employees and visited the production facility of the malaria vaccine.
Then the Royal Couple, accompanied by the governor and the mayor, visited a center for asylum seekers which is run by the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (Fedasil). This center takes care of young unaccompanied minor girls who are pregnant or accompanied by children. The King and the Queen met with employees, volunteers and spent some time with the residence of the center.
The visit ended in the municipality of Braine-l’Alleud where the Royal Couple greeted the people gathered on the Grote Markt Boudewijn I and then took place a reception at the Town Hall.
