King Philippe Hands out the Blue Beret to Prince Gabriel
Today, Friday September 30, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, along with Crown Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant, attended the ceremony of the presentation of the Blue Berets, a military ceremony during which the students who have passed the military initiation phase receive their blue beret. The ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Royal Military Academy in Brussels.
Among the 190 students who received the berets from the King there was Prince Gabriel, second child and eldest son of the King and the Queen.
The Prince joined the Royal Military Academy on August 22 and completed the first five weeks of training at the Elsenborn camp.
It is the second time that the King hands out the blue beret to one of his children: on September 25, 2020 the King handed out the beret to his eldest daughter, Crown Princess Elisabeth.
