Belgian Official Visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo – Day Five: Lubumbashi

Today, Saturday June 11, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde started the fifth day in Congo by visiting Katanga, a village located 90 kilometers from Lubumbashi, capital of the Haut-Katanga province.
In the village the Royal Couple, along with the Belgia delegation, Prime Minister Jean Michel Sama Lukonde and the Governor of Haut Katanga, Jacques Kyabula Katwe, was informed about the “Global Environment Facility (GEF), a sustainable reforestation project taking into account the needs of the local population and which involves each of its members personally”. The project is supported by Belgium.
During the visit at the village took place a dance show.
In the afternoon the Royal Couple attended a meeting with students who partecipated at project “World Skills”. This project aims to “raise the technical skills levels of young people” and is organized by Enabel, the Belgian development agency.
In the evening the King and the Queen, along with the Belgian delegation, attended a dinner held at “Bush Camp” restaurant.
