Dutch Royals attend ”Appeltjes van Oranje 2022”
Thursday May 12, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, along with Princess Beatrix attended the 20th edition of ”Appeltjes van Oranje 2022” award ceremony at Palace Nooreinde in The Hague.
The theme of this year’s award was: “Equality of opportunity for all young people”, focused on young people without opportunities.
The winners of “Appeltjes van Oranje 2022” were: “Triple ThreaT” from Haarlem, an organization that aims to help young people between the ages of 6 and 21 “using sport, culture and lifestyle”; “JongPit” from Amsterdam, a foundation that supports “young people with a chronic or mental illness or disability” between the ages of 15 and 30; “Young Leaders Community” from The Hague, an organization established by Moroccan-Dutch young people that “offers training and coaching to help young people towards a better future”.
The prize consists of a bronze sculpture designed by Princess Beatrix and 15,000 euros.
The “Appeltjes van Oranje” started in 2003 as an annual award of the “Oranje Fonds”. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are patrons of The Oranje Fonds that was created in 2002 as a gift for the couple on occasion of their wedding.
