Belgian State Visit to Greece: Day Two

Tuesday May 3, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde started their second day in Greece by visiting the Temple of Poseidon in the promontory of Cape Sounio where they were greeted by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni.
Then the Royal Couple paid a visit to “Adama Center”, a center that, with the support from UNHCR, “its services and staff, aims to provide the tailored support and guidance that many refugees need in order to stand on their feet again, become self-reliant, support their families and contribute to the communities hosting them”.
Afterwards it was time for technology related events: the King and the Queen attended a demonstation about “the contribution of immersive technologies to the enhancement of cultural and tourist sites” followed by a presentation entitled “Connecting past and future: The impact of New Technologies on Archaeology and Heritage Conservation” and organized by the Belgian School of Archaeology that works in Athens.
In the afternoon the Royal Couple, along with the Belgian delegation and the Greek Minister of Culture and Sports, visited the archaeological site of Thorikos. In this archaelogical site, where there are the remains of a Greek theatre, since 1960s, Ghent University has been conducting research.
In the evening the Kinag and the Queen hosted a reception at the
Acropolis Museum in honor of Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic and her husband, Pavlos Kotsonis. The Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple toured the Museum and then attended a musical performance of the Belgian National Orchestra.
