King Felipe and Queen Letizia Visit Vienna
At the invitation of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander van Der Bellen, and his wife, Doris Schmidauer, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, today, Monday January 31, paid a one-day visit to Vienna, the Austrian capital.
The Royal Couple was officially welcomed by the President and his wife in the courtyard of the Hofburg Imperial Palace. The King and the President inspected the guard of honour and the national anthems were played.
Inside the Palace took place a meeting followed by a lunch hosted by the Presidential Couple.
After the lunch the Royal Couple, along with the President and the First Lady, went to Albertina Square where they laid wreaths in memory of all the victims of Nazism at the Monument against War and Fascism.
Then the King and the Queen, accompanied by the President and the First Lady, went to the Belvedere Museum to open the exhibition: “Dalí and Freud. An obsession”. The exhibition “explores the relationship between Salvador Dalí and Sigmund Freud and thus the reciprocal influence between surrealism and psychoanalysis”, shows “over 100 pieces including paintings, surrealist objects, photographs, films, books, journals, letters, and other documents” and follows Dalí “from his discovery of Freud’s writings to his meeting with the psychoanalyst in exile in London on 19 July 1938”.
The Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple toured the exhibition along with the curator of the exhibition, Jaime Brihuega.
