Spanish King and Queen Attend Pascua Militar 2022
On Thursday January 6, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, together with Her Majesty Queen Letizia, presided over the annual Pascua Militar, a military ceremony held at the Plaza de la Armería at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
During the ceremony the King inspected the Royal Guard formation, the national anthem was played and also took place a 21-gun salute.
Afterwards the Royal Couple moved to the Throne Room of the Palace to greet members of the government, the authorities, the Veterans Association, the Brotherhood of Knights Mutilated of War for the Homeland and a representation of the Armed Forces.
In his speech King Felipe remembered the victims of terrorism and also he expressed “the pride of Spanish society towards the Military Institution”.
Pascua Militar was established in 1782 by King Charles III to mark the reconquering of the Balearic Island of Minorca by the Spanish Armed Forces.
