Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Attend Earthshot Prize Awards 2021

Yesterdag afternoon, Sunday October 17, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were present at the first ever Earthshot Prize Awards 2021 ceremony at Alexandra Palace in London on Sunday.
The Earthshot Prize is a global prize for the environment and it was launched and organized by The Royal Foundation and Prince William.
The prize “aims to turn the current pessimism surrounding environmental issues into optimism that we can rise to the biggest challenges of our time.”
The Earthshot Prize Winners for 2021 are: the Republic of Costa Rica for its initiative that pays local citizens to restore natural ecosystems, to protect forests and plant trees; the City of Milan’s Food Waste Hubs for its initiative that has cut food waste while tackling hunger; Takachar from India, an enterprize that aims “to fight climate change by transforming massive amounts of waste biomass into marketable products around the world”; Coral Vita from Bahamas, a company that “grows coral on land to replant in oceans”; AEM Electrolyser from Thailand, Germany, Italy, a company that “turns renewable electricity into emission-free hydrogen gas”.
Each winner of the Earthshot Prize Awards receive £1 million to “support environmental and conservation projects that are agreed with the winners”.
The Earthshot Prize Awards will be hand out every year over the next decade and tonight, during the ceremony, Prince William announced that the next award ceremony, in 2022, will take place in the United States.
