As an Advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), yesterday, Tuesday October 5, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde was in Paris to attend the World Summit on Mental Health entitled: “Mind our rights, now!”. The summit, attended by policymakers, international organizations, health professionals, experts, and civil society actors, was focused on “strengthening international mobilization in favor of mental health, to promote respect for rights and to promote innovative international experiences”.
In her specch the Queen stressed the importance “to develop listening, counseling and support practices that are adapted to each individual’s specific situation” and also “to build bridges, create coalitions between political decision-makers, international organizations, civil society associations, people affected by psychological disorders and their relatives, as well as the communities in which they live”.
Afterward, at the headquarters of UNESCO, Queen Mathilde met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to discuss about the impact of Covid 19 on education, mentalhealth and the increased inequality.
The visit in Paris ended with a working meeting with members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD), “an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives”. The meeting was focused on the quality of education and civic education, mental well-being in school and the workplace.
