Queen Mathilde in Bruges
Today, Tuesday June 16, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde was in Bruges for several engagements.
At the Groeninge Museum the Queen visited the exhibition “Van Eyck in Bruges”. The exhibition, organized to mark the “Van Eyck year 2020”, shows the works of the painter and also revised archival documents about the life and world of Jan van Eyck in the 15th century. The “Van Eyck year 2020” is an initiative that aims to pay tribute to the Flemish Master Jan van Eyck with events all over Belgium.
Then Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Gruuthuse Museum that was reopened after 5 years of renovation.
The last event in Bruges was a meeting with representatives from the catering industry that were affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
