On June 6, the Swedish royal family celebrated a National Day with a twist – social distancing was in place throughout the celebrations due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

To mark the occasion, the court shared some photos of Crown Princess Victoria and her family in the traditional Swedish dress, with her daughter Princess Estelle wearing the traditional summer costume from her duchy of Ostergotland.

Crown Princess Victoria and her family celebrated the occasion at Haga Palace, where they have been staying throughout the pandemic. Meanwhile, her sister Princess Madeleine and her family celebrated with a photo and Swedish flags at their home in the US. Prince Carl Philip also shared a photo of him and his family on his Instagram.

Normally the Swedish public can visit the palace for free on National Day, so Crown Princess Victoria gave a virtual tour of the Royal Palace in Stockholm on YouTube instead, where she was dressed in the national costume. At 8pm, King Carl Gustaf gave a speech from the palace and the army gave a socially distanced performance of traditional anthem Arméns stora tapto. King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, the prime minister and speaker of parliament watched the performance from the Logården in the royal palace.
