Nicholas of Romania and his wife Alina Maria expecting first child
On June 1, which also coincides with Children’s Day, Nicholas of Romania announced that he and his wife Alina Maria were expecting their first child together, due in November.
Nicholas posted a message on his Facebook page announcing the news, stating:
I am happy to share with you the joy that my wife, Alina-Maria, is pregnant with our first child, who will be born in November. Protected by the love of parents and family, our child will be educated in respect for ancestors and traditional values, in the spirit of love and responsibility for the country, in the faith in which I was baptized, like my grandfather, King Mihai. So help us God!
It was confirmed in 2019 that Prince Nicholas has a child from a previous relationship, Iris Anna, with Nicoleta Cîrjan, whom he had previously lived with. Alina Maria (formerly Binder) married in 2017 in a civil ceremony in Henley-on-Thames in England, followed by a religious ceremony a year later at Saint Elijah’s Church in Sinaia, Romania.
In 2015 King Mihai denounced Nicholas’s royal titles and removed him from the line of succession to the defunct Romanian throne after rumours about his child with Nicoleta Cîrjan circulated in the country.
