Prince Charles opens NHS Nightingale via laptop

Prince Charles opened the new NHS Nightingale using the “Zoom” application which has been a popular choice for virtual business meetings amongst various companies and also places of education for online classes as social distancing measures prevent the engagement from occurring face-to-face.

The new 4,000 bed NHS Nightingale Hospital is in the location of the ExCel Centre in London, though due to the massive increase in cases of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom, the government decided to turn the space into an extra hospital so more patients could be treated. Similar practices have already happened in other hard hit countries like China, South Korea, Italy and Spain.

The new hospital is named after Florence Nightingale, who is often called “The Lady With The Lamp” and was one of the first nurses to put forward the idea of cleanliness and hygiene in hospitals.

There are currently 41,903 people in the United Kingdom who have been tested positive for Coronavirus, or COVID-19, including Prince Charles himself, the Prime Minister and the chief medical officer. The health secretary has just recovered from the lethal disease, as has MP Nadine Dorries. 4,313 have died from the disease in the UK, the youngest being a five year-old.
