Peter and Autumn Phillips to divorce
On 11 February, it was announced that Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn were to divorce, sharing custody of their two children; 9 year-old Savannah and 7 year-old Isla.
A statement on the couple’s behalf said that the choice to separate was “the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship”. The Queen and other members of the royal family were allegedly told about Peter and Autumn’s decision last year.
Peter Phillips met the then Canadian born Autumn Kelly at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal in 2003 whilst he was working for the Williams Formula 1 team. Their wedding took place in 2008 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Autumn converted to the Church of England from Catholicism at the time of their wedding, due to the rules of succession at the time, which were later altered.
