Dutch Royals Attend the Opening of the Holland Dance Festival
On Wednesday January 22, Princess Beatrix and Princess Laurentien were present at the opening of the seventeenth edition of the Holland Dance Festival at the Zuiderstrandtheater in The Hague.
The festival consists in around fifty performances from around the world that can be seen in theaters in The Hague, Amsterdam, Tilburg and Delft.
Performers of the opening night were the German Gauthier Dance Company that showcased five contemporary “classics” in one program.
During the gala, the Jiří Kylián Ring Award was presented, a prize that is awarded to people who have contributed innovatively or progressively to the development of dance in The Netherlands.
This year the prize was awarded to the Dutch dancer Marian Sarstädt.
The Holland Dance Festival will last until February 8th in The Hague, Delft, Tilburg and Amsterdam.
