Belgian king and Queen visit the Province of West Flanders
Today, Wednesday November 6, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a visit to the Province of West Flanders.
The first stop was in the municipality of Ruiselede where they visited the Penitentiary Agricultural Center. This center is located in a former agricultural colony for young people and after the Second World War was transformed into prison for male prisoners. In the center the prisoners are prepared for reintegration into society. The Royal Couple spoke with a number of prisoners and former drug users and were informed about their recovery programs.
Afterwards the King and the Queen paid a visit to the headquarter of Piano’s Maene, one of the largest piano companies in Europe founded in 1938. The Royal Couple toured the showroom accompanied by Chris Maene, the owner of the company.
The visit ended in the municipality of Pittem where the King and the Queen met with company leaders and various entrepreneurs. At the Town Hall greeted the people gathered outside and then were welcomed by the Mayor Ivan Delaere that hosted a reception.
