On the third day of the state visit to India, today Wednesday October 16, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima moved on to Mumbai, capital city of the Indian State of Maharashtra.
The first visit was at the organization Tiny Miracle. Founded ten years ago by Laurien Meuterten, a former Dutch banker, the organization is focused “on creating sustainable employment and providing social services to employees, such as healthcare and education” and “aims to help communities in poor neighborhoods of Mumbai get out of poverty and become self-sufficient”.
In the afternoon the King and the Queen attended the NFIA High-Level Discussion where they met with leading Indian companies and investors who plan to or have already invested in The Netherlands.
Afterwards the Royal Couple was present at the opening of the 3rd Indo-Dutch Port Forum focused about the cooperation between Dutch and Indian ports, port companies and port development. During the visit were signed multiple agreements.
Then, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum, the King and the Queen attended the opening of the exhibition “India & The Netherlands in the Age of Rembrandt”. The exhibition includes 12 objects on loan from the Rijksmuseum and the Indian Museum added 10 pieces from their own collection.
In the evening the Royal Couple visited the Gateway of India and then took place a reception at the presence of the Dutch community.
