On September 12, the Duchess of Sussex was seen on her first public engagement since the birth of her son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in May, as she launched her new SmartWorks initiative in Oxford Street.

Meghan entered Oxford Street’s John Lewis to open a new scheme she set up helping unemployed women find appropriate clothing and techniques for job interviews. For each piece of clothing sold at John Lewis, money will be donated to SmartWorks.

SmartWorks receives donations from various brands, and Marks and Spencers as well as Jigsaw have also agreed to sell them in their stores.

Meghan said “today is about fashion not food, but this is a similar project because both have women helping women at their core”.
