Belgian Royal Family Celebrates National Day
On Saturday July 20, the Belgian Royal Family started the celebrations for the Belgian National Day. In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde along with Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attended the concert “Prelude to National Day” held at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels and organized by the Queen Elisabeth Competition, together with the Belgian National Orchestra and the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR.
In the morning of the National Day, Sunday July 21, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde together with Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore, attended the traditional Te Deum at the Saint Michael and St Gudula Cathedral in Brussels.
The ceremony was officiated by Cardinal Jozef De Kesel.
Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz attend the Te Deum in the Saint Albanus Cathedral in Namur while Prince Laurent was at the Saint-Salvator Cathedral in Brugge.
After the service the King and the Queen, along with their children, greeted the people gathered outside the Cathedral.
Queen Mathilde wore a new lace dress from Natan “with waist belt in embroidered guipure glazed with silk, with stand-up collar and cut threads in the color terracotta” matched with a Fabienne Delvigne hat and clutch. Princess Elisabeth also wore a dress from Natan “A silk dress, crépon muslin with floral print, smocked collar and striking sleeves in the ecru color” matched with blu clutch and sandals.
In the afternoon took place the traditional military parade at the Place des Palais. Were present King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, their children, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire.
In late afternoon the King and the Queen visited the stand of the “Fete au Park” in the Parc of Brussels. For the celebrations at the Parc Queen Mathilde wore a Red Valentino printed satin midi dress.
The celebrations ended in the evening with the traditional fireworks display at the Place des Palais in Brussels.
