Belgian King and Queen Present the King Baudouin Prize for Development in Africa

Today, Wednesday June 12, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde presented the King Baudouin Prize for Development in Africa in a ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Brussels.
The 2018-2019 edition of the prize was awarded to “Wecyclers”, a start-up from Nigeria that relies on the people of Lagos to improve their environment and their economic situation by redistributing the revenues from recycled waste.
The Development Prize in Africa, worth 200,000 euros, is awarded every two years by the King Baudouin Foundation.
The prize rewards remarkable work, initiated and led by Africans, in the field of development in Africa to significantly improve the quality of life of the people they serve and empower people to take development into their own hands.
The King Baudouin Prize for Development in Africa is part of the King Baudouin Foundation, an independent, pluralistic foundation and was established in 1976.
