US President and First Lady visit UK on state visit
From June 3 – 5, Donald Trump, the President of the United States and his wife Melania undertook a state visit to the United Kingdom, where they touched down at Air Force One at London’s Stanstead Airport. The president’s children and their families, with the exception of his youngest son Barron, were also present.
On the first day of the visit, President Trump and his wife were invited to join a tea reception with Prince Charles, as well as lunch with the Queen before a state banquet at Buckingham Palace where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Duchess of Cornwall, the Countess of Wessex and the Princess Royal were also present.
On the second day of the visit; President Trump met with British prime minister Theresa May to bid her an official farewell after she had announced that she was resigning from office. Trump also met with Brexit Party and candidate for next prime minister Nigel Farage. Later, he had dinner with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall at Winslet House.
On the final day; the President joined other 15 world leaders and veterans in D-Day commemorations at Portsmouth. 300 veterans and their families were also present.
