Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade hosted by the Irish Guards, of which the Duke is colonel, in Hounslow, West London.
The Cambridges watched the century-old parade where the Duchess was greeted by the mascot of the Irish Guards, an Irish wolfhound named Domhnall. During their visit the Duke and Duchess also participated in a minute’s silence for the victims of the New Zealand mosque shootings.
350 soldiers attended the parade at Cavalry Barracks with their families looking on before they were due to deploy to South Sudan and Iraq.
The Duke and Duchess then toasted the Irish Guards with a pint of Guinness at the following reception for the soldiers and their families.
