50th anniversary reception for Prince Charles as Prince of Wales
On March 5, a reception was hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace to mark fifty years since her son Prince Charles became the Prince of Wales, a title he gained during a ceremony in 1968.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Princess Royal, the Earl and Countess of Snowdon as well as the British prime minister Theresa May, the Archbishop of Canterbury and other famous figures were also in attendance at today’s reception. Stereophonics, a Welsh band who have been supported by Charles’s charity The Prince’s Trust since the organisation was founded, performed at the event, and other Welsh personalities were also there, including the secretary Alun Cairns.
Students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, of which Charles is patron, also performed during the event as did Welsh singer Paul Mealor, who sung a new piece about the legend of Lady Llyn y Fan which is set near Charles’s Welsh residence, Llwynywermod in Carmarthenshire.
