Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Morocco

From February 23 – 25, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex undertook a visit to Morocco a week after the King and Queen of Spain also visited the country.

On February 23, the Sussexes arrived at Casablanca Airport where they were offered traditional milk and dates upon arrival and then went on to meet fifteen-year-old Crown Prince Moulay Hassan at the Royal Residence of Rabat where they were staying.

The next day; the couple had lunch with the press at Kasbah Tamadot, Richard Branson’s Moroccan residence in the Atlas Mountains, where they then visited Asni Town, where they attended an engagement at a girl’s school with Education For All, which enrolls girls from rural communities into school. Meghan was reported to have spoken to the girls at the school in “very good” French, which she speaks aside from Spanish and her native English. The couple then went to the British ambassador’s house in Rabat, where they attended an evening reception.

On the third day, the couple visited the Royal Federation of Equestrian Sports before visiting the Andalusian Gardens in Rabat, where they attended an event for young Moroccan entrepreneurs and then participated in a cookery demonstration with schoolchildren, where they tried a variety of Moroccan cuisine.

On February 25, the couple returned home from the visit, which was the Duchess’s last public engagement before she is due to give birth to her first child, which is due in April.
