Last Day in Mozambique for Queen Mathilde

Queen Mathilde started the last day of her working visit to Mozambique today, Wednesday February 6, by meeting the Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi.
At lunchtime the Queen attended a luncheon hosted by Mozanbique first lady, Isaura Nyusi.
Then Queen Mathilde delivered a speech at the Eduardo Mondlane University.
The Queen started her speech by thanking “Mozambique for its kind hospitality”, then, as Advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Queen talked about the UN Agenda 2030.
Queen Mathilde stated that “Agenda 2030 is based on solidarity. Solidarity between countries and regions, cities and rural areas”, adding that the goals of the Agenda 2030 are: ending poverty and hunger, building peaceful and equitable societies and fighting climate change.
Afterwards the Queen paid a visit to the headquarters of the Mozambique’s National Disaster Management Institute (INGC).
INGC is a government institution responsible for coordinating the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) actions in Mozambique.
During the visit the Queen was informed by INGC General Director, Augusta Maita, about the new technology used by INGC in responding to natural disasters, which has been affecting Mozambique cyclically and the use of drones for mapping both disaster prevention and response.
Later the Queen visited the Habel Jafar Health Unit at the Habel Jafar Health Center in Marracuene, a center that “offers assistance to 23,000 people and provides preventive, stimulating and curative care at no additional cost or for a minimal fee”.
