On February 1, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited One25, a charity helping female sex workers, the Bristol Old Vic and Empire Fighting Chance.

The Duke and Duchess began their visit as they were greeted by snowy weather which is affecting most of the UK and caused schools and workplaces to close in Bristol, where they were welcomed by crowds of schoolchildren who had braved the cold to greet them.

One25 is a charity helping women working in the sex industry, and helps women get back on their feet after life performing street sex work. The charity provides help to 240 women each year in Bristol and the surrounding communities and was founded in 1995 by Val Jeal who had initially lead a small support group for victims of sex work.

One volunteer said “it is amazing that they chose to come here. It is heartwarming, and makes you think that these women are not forgotten and not cared about”.

The Old Vic in Bristol was built in 1776 and has been the beginning of journeys for thousands of famous actors, including Daniel Day-Lewis. At Empire Fighting Chance the Sussexes met young people who were taking advantage of the organisation’s facilities such as the boxing gym.
