Duchess of Cambridge launches family helpline in Lewisham

On January 22, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the South East London offices of Family Action to launch their new call, texting and email service FamilyLine, which supports parents and carers who are struggling to look after their children at home.

During the visit, Kate wore a dress from Beulah, a fashion brand based in London that donates money to vulnerable women who are victims of modern slavery and domestic abuse.

Whilst she was at the offices of Family Action, she met families and young children who had been supported by the programme, which is celebrating 150 years of supporting young people and their families this year. 45,000 families are supported by the organisation each year, which has 150 specialist services.

Kate spoke of her admitted lack of confidence as a parent herself, stating that ” you get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days but after the age of one it falls away”.
