Duchess of Cambridge visits community garden
On January 15, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the King Henry’s Walk community garden in Islington to observe how the project brings local people together through gardening.
The Duchess visited children from St. Jude and St. Paul’s Primary School, who were making pizzas when she first arrived at the garden.
The garden is supported by Islington Council and contains growing plots for local residents where the use of organic growing and plant diversity is encouraged. It has been awarded the London’s Blooms Best Community Garden in 2008, as well as in 2009 and 2011 and the RHS National Certificate of Distinction in 2012.
Kate is planning an RHS garden for the Chelsea show for this year and was accompanied by Andrée Davies and Adam White, the landscape architects who she is collaborating with.
