Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on two engagements in London

On December 11, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Passage, a homeless organization in London, as well as the Evelina Children’s Hospital in St. Thomas’s Hospital in Lambeth.

At the Passage, the couple chatted to volunteers and raised awareness of the effect of drugs such as Spice on the public, as well as mental health and homelessness. At the Passage’s St. Vincent’s centre in Victoria, the Cambridges helped with decorating for Christmas, where William said “my son knows I’m useless at this, Catherine is the artsy one”.

The Passage was founded in 1980 and helps homeless people to become inspired and take courage to make long-term changes to their lives.

Later that day the Cambridges visited the Evelina Children’s Hospital in Lambeth, where Kate was handed flowers by six-year-old Tiana Yales, who is being seen at the hospital for sickle cell anaemia.

The Evelina Children’s Hospital was founded in 1869 by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild after his wife, Evelina de Rothschild, who died in childbirth at the age of 27, so a hospital in Southwark, one of the poorest districts in London at the time, was built in her memory.
