Swedish royal family attend Count Oscar Bernadotte af Wisborg’s funeral
On December 2, members of the Swedish royal family attended the funeral of Count Oscar Bernadotte af Wisborg, who passed away on November 3, at Rasbo Church in Uppsala.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were in attendance, as well as their daughter Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia. Count Oscar was close to King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia after his father passed away when he was a year old.
Count Oscar’s Bernadotte af Wisborg relatives were also present. He is also the cousin of Harald V of Norway as well as the Belgian and Danish royal families; though neither of which were present.
Count Oscar was born in 1921 and was more commonly known as “Oscis” amongst the family. He was the third child of Count Carl Bernadotte af Wisborg and his first wife, Baroness Marianne de Geer of Leufsta. He served in the Swedish navy and married Baroness Ebba Gyllenkrook in 1944 whom he had a daughter with, but later divorced and he then married Gertrud Ollén, who died in 1999.
