Last of Queen Elizabeth II’s Corgis Passes Away

On October 26, it was announced that twelve-year-old Whisper, Queen Elizabeth’s last remaining corgi. had passed away. Her dorgis Vulcan and Candy are the last remaining canine companions for the Queen.

Whisper was adopted by the Queen in 2016 after she offered to take him in following the death of his former owner, Sandringham staff member Bill Fenwick, whose wife Nancy was known as “keeper of the Queen’s corgis” as she looked after the royal dogs whilst the Queen was on tour or on engagements.

The Queen’s first corgi was Dookie, which was given to her by her father George VI in 1933. When she was eighteen in 1944, the then Princess Elizabeth was given Susan the corgi as a birthday gift, who then continued on her canine generations with Sugar, Honey, Whisky, Sherry and Bee.

In 2007, the Queen had five corgis: Monty, Emma, Linnet, Willow and Holly. In 2012, when she appeared at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, she had Cider and Berry with her as well as dorgis Vulcan and Candy.
