Dutch Working Visit to the German Federal States of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland: Last Day
Today, Friday October 12, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima completed their working visit to the German Federal States of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
The Royal Couple was in the town of Völklingen where they paid a visit to Völklingen Ironworks, a former iron and steel factory that ceased its productions in 1986. Now the Völklingen Ironworks is a museum, an interactive science center, an exhibition space and a concert hall.

Along with the Prime Minister Tobias Hans, the King and the Queen toured the old factory complex and met with experts and students to talk about the development of industrial and working culture in Europe and the importance of preserving industrial heritage.
Later, at the Saarland University Hospital in Homburg, the Royal Couple attended an event on Life Sciences and Health, focused on the German-Dutch cooperation in the fields of on digital health care (e-health) and care for the elderly.
