Royal family watch flypast to mark 100 years of the RAF

On July 10, members of the British royal family watched a flypast over Buckingham Palace to celebrate one hundred years since the founding of the RAF in 1918 after the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service merged.

A hundred jets and planes flew over London for the spectacular flypast, and the event was reported to have been attended by 65,000 – 70,000 members of the public.

Members of the royal family who attended the event were the Queen, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Duke of York, the Countess of Wessex Earl of Wessex, the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra. Young royals Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge could be seen enjoying the flypast from inside Buckingham Palace with their nanny and the Duchess of Cambridge’s private secretary.

The event was then followed by a reception at Buckingham Palace, where the royals met current and former members of the RAF.
