Princess Margriet and Princess Laurentien Attend ECF Princess Margriet Awards 2018

Today, Wednesday May 16, Princess Margriet and Princess Laurentien were present at the tenth edition of the European Cultural Foundation Princess Margriet Awards 2018 held at the Stadsschouwburg Theater in Amsterdam.

The laureates of the tenth edition of the awards were: the cultural centre Borderland from Poland and the multidisciplinary research agency Forensic Architecture from the United Kingdom.

According to the jury of the European Cultural Foundation, the winners were awarded “for their outstanding work addressing urgent contemporary challenges through a cultural lens”. Borderland and the Forensic Architecture “see art as a way of exposing injustice in our communities, to help us recover and rethink the past in order to change the world”.

The ECF Princess Margriet Awards is given every year to European artists, intellectuals and activists. The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) was set up in Geneva in 1954. Princess Laurentien is currently the President of ECF and Extraordinary Member of the Board since 2007, when she succeeded Princess Margriet. The EFC Princess Margriet Award was established in 2008 in honour of the organisation’s former President, Princess Margriet, in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
