King Willem-Alexander Launches The King’s Games

Today, Friday April 20, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander was present at the opening of the 6th edition of the King’s Game at the De Fliert Brede Primary School in Twello.

The King had breakfast with 510 students coming from three primary schools. After the breakfast there was the performance of the ‘Kinderen voor kinderen’ choir.

Then, in the presence of the King, started the activities planned for the event, including handballs, cross bikes, and kickboxing.  This year more than 1.2 million children from over 6,000 schools are taking part in the Kings Game through the Netherlands, the Caribbean and Dutch schools abroad.

The “King Games” are organized by Krajicek Foundation and Cruyff Foundation and took place for the first time in 2013 as part of the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander. They are a sporty initiative for all primary school students in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The purpose of the “King Games” is to promote a healthy and sporting society.
