Funeral Details of Prince Henrik Announced
At a press briefing this morning in Copenhagen, the Danish Royal Court announced that Prince Henrik’s funeral service will take place on Tuesday February 20 at the Christiansborg Slotskirke.
The funeral service will begin at 11am, and by attended only by close family and friends. It will not be a state funeral.
Prince Henrik’s body will be transported from Fredensborg Palace to Amalienborg on Thursday morning, with members of his immediate family following by car. The hearse will travel around Fredensborg briefly as a ‘farewell’.
On Friday at 6pm local time, his body will be then moved to Christiansborg Slotskirke for a Castrum Doloris. The Royal Family will visit the Church on Saturday between 10am and 12pm.
In accordance with the Prince’s wishes, his body will be cremated, with half his ashes to be scattered across the Danish sea and the other half to be buried in the private garden at Fredensborg Palace.
There will be little press access to the funeral, the Court has said.
